![]() ![]() I am very impressed and happy with this bird feeder with camera. But I like the feeder anyway and I am NOT going to purchase cloud storage. I think that the company disabling the detection "area" selection and "smart detection" features unless you purchase their cloud storage is kinda a greedy trick. The camera works great without their "pay per month" cloud plan. I now have many videos that prove that Squirrels actually do exist! And they enjoy bird food too! If Amazon allowed more than one video, I would show you. Squirrel Proof! The "special features" state this bird feeder is Squirrel Proof. I have turned off the IR lights as there is a street light in frame that provides enough light that this camera gives me an excellent color picture even at night. The camera also has EXCELLENT low light capabilities. Not many birds are expected after 10:00 PM and I am sure this will save a lot of power. I have my feeder's camera go into sleep mode at 10:00 PM and wake up at 6:00 AM. This feeder's camera has lots of nice energy saving options. I don't envision keeping this charged up as being an issue. If the solar panel ever fails to keep up with the charge, I can simply run a charger out to the feeder and plug it into my yard decoration power cord. The camera has a charging port on it, but it is much easier to charge the camera with the USB C connector on the exterior of the bird feeder itself. The solar panel I am sure helps with that and will help keep it charged for me. The camera has been outside, up and running for over 24 hours and the battery still reads as a full charge. This is not a problem, just an observation. When it arrived, I had it on the charger (not included) for about 24 hours before I got a green "charged" light. I have a good WiFi6 router, which may be part of the reason for the good signal quality, but the bird feeders camera has to be given a lot of credit for this quality too.Ĭharging of the battery takes a LONG time. I get very good video, without glitching and fast download speeds when I save a video. The feeder is about 20 feet from the outside wall of my house, so it is at least 30 feet from my router. Internet connection was super easy to setup and I am getting the full bars even though my router has an exterior wall to penetrate and is a good 10-15 feet inside my house. I am sure I will be repositioning the camera to reduce these false alerts, but it proves that this bird feeder can easily double as a security camera for my yard. As my feeder currently faces the street, every car or person that passes my property triggers an alert and records. The motion detection, even when set to low, detects all motion in the camera's view. ![]() The resolution will be greatly reduced to stream it over the internet, so the original video on my side is even more impressive than what you see here. I have included a short video that my bird feeder has captured. The video quality of the camera is outstanding. They also supply a handy cup to dip into the bag of bird seed so I can easily fill without spilling seeds everywhere! Super easy to fill with seed as the roof tilts up. It holds a very large amount of bird seed, and the window in the front makes it very easy to see when the food is running low. It is a large feeder that is a bit heavy, but well made. It has a very large perch for birds to land, which I am sure the birds appreciate. So far I am pleased without cloud storage. Possibly will later if I feel that I need it. I did not elect to subscribe to cloud storage. The fact that it INCLUDES a solar panel for charging makes it PERFECT! A bit pricey but it also serves as a security camera and is right in line with those costs. If you need a great gift for a bird lover - this is it. I do have several other feeders so they may not feel the need to search around. I knew both of these would readily feed but hopeful others will follow. ![]() Immediately followed by 3 sparrows (I hate them but was excited to see a bird). I even used the voice mic to scare him off once. My first visitor, a squirrel, arrived early this morning. Even includes a Velcro strap in case you want to mount to a smaller tree. Includes all mounting needs and the bracket is really heavy duty. Arrived well packaged and they thought of everything. The manual is actually an heavy quality book with a lot of extra info. The manual and all instruction are thorough and some of the best Ive ever received. They even explain why no 5hz ( basically stating that the 2.4hz is stronger and goes through walls better - those my words, not theirs). The Wi-Fi hookup was the EASIEST of anything Ive ever added to my dual band Google home network. ![]()
